The third book in the Jersey Walcott series. Who would have thought that such an evil deed could have occurred at the Columbus Country Club. He hasn't started his new job there when an unspeakable event occurs.

Jersey and Maggie are drawn into the crime; determined to outsmart the evil-doers. With Jersey's wit and advanced crime solving technics, he and Maggie get way ahead of the police on this one. A nice short read for an evening or afternoon that doesn't bog one down with minutia. Available in paperback at Amazon.

Death at the Country Club

Jersey: I like playing golf, it seems like I always played golf
Maggie: I think the term golf means more than just playing
the game. It's all the related stuff you guys do.
Jersey: Yes, there are ancillary things that go along with it,
like betting, drinking, smoking cigars, and having a
good time.
Maggie: I suppose, but I don't get it. It must be a guy thing.
Jersey: It is a guy thing; and we try hard to keep it that
way.
Maggie: OK, then; let me know when woman have the
right to vote again.
Jersey: You'll be the first to know, only because you're so
cute.

I'm Published, Now What?

Okay I have my first book published, I feel like a real writer now. No, not really. It's only on Amazon with 350,000 other books. "What now?" I ask. From my sales background I know the key is exposure, exposure. Go and expose yourself I would say to my salesman, let them know you are out there. So I will make a mass emailing to friends and family, post on facebook which you might be reading now, be at the top of google and yahoo searches. What else. Maybe I'll have a book signing at the New York library or something grandeous like that, maybe not. Bye, I must go marketing now, where's my other hat. Oh yes, you can order at

Ashes to Ashes

Stephen Hawking said, "We came from nothing and we leave with nothing." His theory and research into the creation of the universe are very profound. He is most likely an athesis. The phrase, "ashes to ashes and dust to dust" is commonly used in burial services. It comes from the first chapter in the Bible, Genesis. The thought that we end up as dust is not pleasant, but unfortunately it is the case. The life as we know it, comes to an end, but our faithfill and spiritual life continues on in an eternal continuation. Maybe Dr. Hawking was on to something.

Dangers of not Writing

Have you ever wondered where your grand parents came from or your great grand parents. Next time at a family function give grandma a notebook and ask her to write down her memories. Memories of her growing up, memories of her parents and brothers and sisters. How man times I have wished I had asked my elders things that I wonder about today. If only we had them written down. Keep a journal and when your children are older, read some of it at dinner. Hope they don't fall asleep. Keep writing!!!

Who wants to be a Writer?

Being an avid reader I always thought I could be a writer. I fact in college friends asked me to write papers for them. My answer was, "Sure I will, get me all the details, do the research and give me your notes and I'll put it together." Guess what? They never did. Writing is something you have to have a feeling about, you need to put yourself in the story. Be part of the plot. Think about it twenty-four hours a day. How could you do that with someone elses notes. Doesn't work that way. It's one thing to write a book. That may be the easiest part. Next is trying to sell it to someone. Oh yeah, we all have a network of friends who may or may not buy it, but then what. Marketing, marketing, always marketing. The friends have to tell friends, they have to tell their friends and on and on. Pretty soon you have a thousand people who are in your book circle. Well we hope so. Good Luck!!!

An Ebook on NY Times Best Seller List

"Never" is what a famous writer said, it's not really a book. Does the definition of a book have to include a hardcover, a jacket, weigh five pounds and cost $14.95 to $24.95. I don"t think so. A book must give you information either fact or fiction. A Google search for ebook gave 750,000,000 items, a search for book gives 850,000,000. The first ebook was available in 1991 but most people didn't have the software to download it. The Gutenberg printing press was developed five hundred years ago. So in another year or less the number of items in the searches will be roughly the same. I predict the NY Times will soon have a bestseller ebook list, could this be possible. Yes there will be a list but not in the NY Times, to staid in their ways. For fun check "The Gutenberg Project."

Real writers write with pen and paper

Hemmingway never used MS Word. He is what a lot of writers would call a man's man. He used pencil and paper, wrote in notebooks and tablets. He also lived all over the world, but mostly in Europe and America. He spent a lot of time as a young man at his family retreat on Walloon Lake in Michigan. In his book "For Whom the Bell Tolls" he uses the quote from John Donne, 'no man is an island he is part of the whole.......'Donne wrote that in 1624 it's worth looking up. In 2010 we also are not alone, we depend on others as others depend on us. Any mans death deminishes me.

The New Book

I finally submitted my book, "The Man in the Moon" to smashwords.com. They do ebook publishing, so the book can be downloaded to a number of different electronic readers. It's a novella, that means it is around 25000 words. It's a very surreal feeling. Each morning I check email to see if there are any sales.
What a pleasant feeling to see that sales number grow. Marketing is a huge. Since I'm an unknown in this world I need to try to spread the word myself. So my plan is to rely on friends and they let their friends know, etc. So time will tell. Meanwhile I have begun a follow-up book.

The Art of Knitting and Writing

Aren't they the same. No not at all. Knitters don't write and writers don't knit. I don't know anybody that knits that writes a thing, likewise none of my writer friends, personally and internet don't kit. They do take special skills as I watch Emily knit sweaters for grandchildren, some here now are a new one coming in June. I couldn't do it. Then again she says she couldn't write anything as I write my short stories. But both are demanding in their own way. Patience, patience, that's all it takes. Only the builder knows where the building errors are. Likewise only the writer knows where his faults are in a story, too much character or not enough, not enough back story, etc. Anyway look for my new book "The Man in the Moon" on smashwords.com for down loading on your electric reader

Reading, Writing and Arithmetic

Reading is a great thing, to think we've been doing it all our life. Well most of us probably started at an early age, maybe two to four. Me, I started at one but I never told anyone. To this day I read every day, most people do, you know, they just don't realize it.
Writing, now that's a good one. We do that all the time too. But if someone would ask, "Are you a writer?" what would you say? You'd say, "No" I think of myself as a writer of sorts. I've written a couple of shorts that I submitted for magazine publishing. I think they thought I moved because I never heard from them. I am writing a novella, 25000 words that I going to epublish and will be available electronically on Amazon for Kindle and other formats.
Arithmetic, now that's a hout. I love it. I like math puzzles. Geometry and other lifeforms.
